An opening exists for one EE immediately, and the potential for others in 2008. We are, or will be, looking for electrical engineers within a variety of disciplines and with various levels of experience. These engineers will be working on one or more NASA flight programs, and will will work to develop system concepts and detailed designs for space flight instruments, ground support and test hardware and support the fabrication, assembly, test and qualification activities. This position will provide technical specification of subcontracted items, and interface with outside vendors for subsystem procurement and delivery.

An opening exists for an experienced Software Quality Assurance professional to ensure the quality and safety of state-of-the-art space flight and ground system software for present and upcoming NASA space science projects. This individual will take a leading role in defining and implementing a software Quality Assurance program that covers LASP science instruments, spacecraft, and systems that are used to test and operate spacecraft and the instruments they carry.

Instrument Engineer (IE073108)

LASP invites application for the position of Instrument Engineer who will be responsible for the characterization and calibration of photometric devices, particle detectors, optical components, and instruments as these systems are developed for NASA flight programs. Candidates will also be involved in the development of necessary test fixturing both electrical and mechanical. Applicants with knowledge of programming and software applications such as IDL, Labview, Zemax, and Solidworks are preferred. Experience with vacuum systems and clean rooms is highly desirable, but not required. Two positions are available immediately with as many as 3 more opening in late Fall ’08.
